The Brief

Saucy Buns is making its name, offering hungry fans the sauciest smashed burgers in town, co-created with popular UK foodie personality WhatWillyCook. Viral chef also known as Will Hughes, has teamed up with Taster, a company redefining the taste and experience of delivery food, to collaborate on the launch, after having made a name for himself for his cheeky, humorous cooking videos. The menu is a curation of classic favourites with a saucy twist and limited edition specials that you’ll want to get your hands on. The aptly named Saucy Buns – which believes everything is better with sauce, and lots of it – is launching in London on Deliveroo and UberEats from 21st April across London. For the launch, Saucy Buns wanted to host a brand activation in the centre of London to build brand awareness and create a fun experience that new customers will remember.

Crowds gathering in Spitalfields, London around Saucy Buns activation

Person stepping in to answer the Saucy Hotline

The Solution

Saucy Buns took over Bishops Square, London using our technology. We provided custom hardware and a beautifully-branded London phone box, complete with a Saucy Hotline, for this fun pop-up activation. Londoners who wanted the sauciest burger experience in the capital picked up the ringing phone and ordered a burger with some saucy chat. On the other end of the Saucy Hotline was the co-creator himself, Willy, who was ready to talk saucy to everyone who answered. Once they had made that all-important phone call, they could then head to the Saucy Buns van to experience a delicious burger fresh from the grill.

The telephone line was open from noon on Thursday 21st April, 2022 in Bishops Square, London. Passerbys were intrigued by the activation, and their curiosity drove them to the telephone box to find out more.
